A bit of background.
I’m Ben Merrill.
I’ve always liked the idea of coding, but never went all in on learning it the traditional way.
Once AI hit, that changed.
I leaned into it, learned how it actually works, and started building. Now it’s just part of how I operate, whether I’m improving workflows at work or throwing together apps and tools at home.
Some of it’s practical, some of it’s just for fun. Either way, I like making things and sharing.
Process
I get an idea. It’s brilliant. Then I convince myself it’s terrible. Rinse and repeat. Most ideas go straight to the shelf, but every now and then, one feels solid enough to actually build. That’s where the fun starts.
I’m the director, AI is the coder. We go back and forth—I provide the vision, layout the design ideas, do my own research, and direct while AI handles the heavy lifting. It’s a true partnership where I’m constantly tweaking, refining, and steering the ship.
This is where we live for a while. Lots of testing, breaking things, fixing them, changing direction, iterating endlessly. It’s messy, it’s time-consuming, and honestly, it’s my favorite part. This is where good ideas become real tools.
Then I ask if this is something others might get value out of. If I think yes, I’ll aim to release it. If not, I keep it for myself and still learn from the build. Either way, the cycle starts all over again with whatever I’m cooking up next.
